About us / News flashes
2012's date and venue to be announced soon!
So.....do you have a good idea for a short film? Do you have a bad idea for a short film?
Whatever your idea, get a few friends, write a little script and put it on film. You could share in great prizes. You could surprise your friends, your family, even yourself! Your film should be up to 10 minutes long and can be on whatever subject matter you choose. Just make sure it can be viewed by the masses!
There is an Open section, sections for schools, for over 55's, for 'locals' (Peel Region residents) and a section for indigenous themes and film-makers. The festival also wishes to give those who live with a challenge a chance to be involved so we have a special section for film-makers who have overcome a particular challenge to get their work made. So something for everyone.
Entries should close around September 2012 (exact date to be confirmed), so you still have plenty of time to put your fantastic creation together. If you need help, we can find it for you. All you need is a video camera, an active imagination and maybe a sense of humour. The rest is fun!

***** NEWS FLASH 5/1/2011 : Welcome from Alexandra! *****
Hello and welcome to the Mandurah Short Film Festival site!
My name is Alexandra Bekiaris, ex producer of the Academy Award Nominated film MOST (The Bridge), also winner of several other prestigious awards. I have formally been given the opportunity and privilege to manage and continue to see the Mandurah Short Film Festival grow in 2011.
I would firstly like to thank Sean and Warren for all their efforts and strength in developing and supporting the Mandurah Short Film Festival over the last few years, working closely within the local community and with people, having the opportunity in sharing their hearts and their story with the world.
I am excited to be working with you as a community and seeing this festival grow and develop in a greater way this year.
I have formally held training classes in film script writing & idea development for students and actors in Hollywood, working with some of America's best and finest as well as students that have not had any experience. We have started to develop a casting agency and work with several international companies here in Perth. Also our sister company, New Pearl Media, will be producing and developing films for the Australian and International markets here in beautiful Mandurah and Perth.
We believe that your gifts can be matured, worked on and developed in a great way and, as a part of this, we will be holding script writing & development classes in the 1st, 2nd & 3rd school terms to help find your potential and see your idea come to life! We would love you to be apart of this.
Please visit the Resources page for details of our 2011 courses.
Again, I would like to thank those that have supported the film festival over the years and have desired to see this grow into the festival that it is. Sponsors, schools, the community, the filmmakers, WithoutABox, and I especially want to again thank Sean and Warren for their passion and desire to see this vision take effect.
We need your continued support and look forward to working with you in 2011!
Sincerely,
Alexandra

***** NEWS FLASH 4/1/2011 : Results, a HUUUUUGGGGGEEEE apology and new management! *****
First up, the 2010 results can now be found here. Some prizes have already been sent out and the rest should happen this week.
Secondly, a huge apology for keeping you all waiting so long. The sad truth is that, with the best of intentions, we don't have the time to put into the festival, and you filmmakers, that is deserved. And that is why the exciting news for 2011 is that the festival will be under new 'management'. Alexandra Bekiaris, an Academy Award nominated producer, will be taking over, and while many elements of the current festival will be maintained, there will no doubt be some exciting developments in the pipeline. We wish Alexandra all the best and hope that filmmakers will support her endeavours.
